"As a furniture innovator, KI places a high emphasis on design and functionality while simultaneously addressing important environmental attributes," said Stowe Beam, Managing Director of SCS Environmental Certification Services division. "We are pleased that KI has earned SCS Indoor Advantage Gold certification to further demonstrate its success in minimizing indoor environmental impacts while providing great products."

KI manufactures innovative furniture and movable wall systems for education, healthcare, government, and corporate markets. The global company embraces a high commitment to safeguard human health, preserve natural resources, and promote sustainability. By meeting the requirements of SCS Indoor Advantage Gold certification, KI can provide independent assurance that covered products meet the environmental performance requirements of the industries it serves.

"Environmental performance is at the forefront of our manufacturing practices," said Norman Nance, Vice President, Environmental Initiatives at KI. "With the Indoor Advantage Gold across many of our products, we are confident that we are meeting our twin goals of minimizing impacts while providing transparency about our products."

SCS Indoor Advantage Gold for indoor air quality certifies products that are low in volatile organic compound (VOC) emissions, thereby supporting healthy and safe indoor environments. The standard mandates an auditing process and testing regimen to verify that products meet consensus-based VOC emission parameters, and that manufacturing is guided by an adherence to internationally recognized quality management principles. The certification qualifies products for LEED low-emitting materials credits for furniture, complies with ANSI/BIFMA X7.1/M7.1, meets CA 01350, and sets up products to achieve the highest possible PHAROS score under the Healthy Building Network.

By selecting KI's certified products, specifiers can be assured that the products have been thoroughly vetted by an ISO accredited, third-party certification body and tested by an industry-independent laboratory.
